Vietnam has become one of the most dynamic business destinations in Asia, attracting entrepreneurs and investors from around the world. Whether you’re attending meetings, exploring investment opportunities, visiting business partners or joining conferences, you may need a Vietnam business visa to enter the country for business-related purposes.
To help ensure a smooth and stress-free business trip, this article will provide you with details of Vietnam business visa types, requirements, processing time and fees.

What is a Vietnam business visa?
A Vietnam business visa (often labeled as “DN” or “DN1/DN2”) is a legal permit issued to foreigners traveling to Vietnam for business activities, such as attending conferences, meeting partners, signing contracts, or conducting market research. Unlike a tourist visa, a Vietnam business visa allows its holder to engage in professional or commercial activities but does not permit full-time employment in the country.
Vietnam business visas can be issued for single or multiple entries, with validity ranging from 01 month to 03 months, depending on the applicant’s nationality and company sponsorship, etc.
Vietnam business visa categories
Depending on your purpose and the entity sponsoring your stay on the country, Vietnam business visas are classified into a few types including:
- DN1 Visa: issued to those working with enterprises and organizations that have legal status in Vietnam;
- DN2 Visa: granted to those entering Vietnam to offer services, establish a commercial presence, or handle projects on behalf of foreign entities;
- Business eVisa (EV): suitable for short-term business trips such as meetings, conferences, site visits or partner discussions, with single or multiple entry and validity of up to 90 days.
How to get a Vietnam business visa?
- Vietnam business e-Visa: eligible nationalities can apply for a Vietnam eVisa for short-term business travel with single or multiple entries, validity up to 90 days;
- Vietnam business VOA: available for AIR travelers who obtain a visa approval letter from the Vietnam Immigration Department before departure and then get visa stamped on original passport upon arrival at Vietnam airport;
- Vietnam business visa at Embassy or Consulate: this is suitable for those who are not in hurry for a visa, living not so far from the Embassy or Consulate office, and would like to have Vietnam visa ready stamped on passport before taking the trip.
